PROPAGATE: Privacy Protection for the Implementation of Secure Database Access in the Spanish Tax Agency

Led by the University of Vigo and the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), PROPAGATE is a groundbreaking project designed to build a secure, encrypted data ecosystem for Spain’s public sector. By leveraging cutting-edge homomorphic encryption and secure multi-party computation, the project overcomes the legal and technical hurdles of sharing information between government bodies. This approach allows sensitive data to be analyzed across different organizations while ensuring total confidentiality: information stays encrypted throughout the process, and only authorized, aggregate results are ever revealed. Ultimately, PROPAGATE strengthens privacy protections, improves public policy analysis, and ensures that public resources are managed more effectively for the common good.
